Flat Sexy Abs Are Possible
Abs exercises and which ones are the best ones are probably the most talked about and controversial topic in the fitness and exercise industry today. You can tell that this is the hottest topic in the fitness industry just by checking out late night TV, all you see are infomercials promising six pack abs! And we all know that not all of them can fulfill their promises of how to get ripped abs.
With all of the gadgets and exercises out there, you must be cautious when determining which are scams are which ones are the real deal. Most of these abdominal exercises are only designed to tone your muscles up, not help you lose belly fat (which is the first step in getting flat abs, to lose belly fat). If you were to lose that extra belly fat, you may be surprised to see abs forming without any abs exercises performed. This is because some people already have decent abs, but just have a layer of fat that is hiding the abs. All you really have to do is learn how to loose stomach fat.
Make sure to put your efforts more in training time with high intensity full-body workouts rather than just abdominal exercises. The most efficient way to lose belly fat is to do the most intense full body workout that trains the largest portions of your body at once.
Exercises that work the large muscle groups of the legs, upper and lower back, and chest give you the biggest metabolic bang for your buck in terms of abdominal fat loss. Combining these types of big multi-joint exercises in high intensity super-set, tri-set, or circuit fashion gives you the biggest fat-burning and metabolism boosting response from your workouts.
Moving our attention to abs specific exercises, it is important to not just mindlessly pump away doing crunches and other low intensity abs exercises. If you want to actually develop your abdominals to the best extent possible, don't waste your time with exercises that you can do more than 20 or 25 reps… that means you are definitely not doing an exercise that provides enough resistance to the abs. Exercises that challenge you to do 6-15 reps are the ones you need to work out to get six pack abs.
Here are good examples of these higher intensity and resistance abdominal exercises are hanging leg raises or knee raises using a "pelvic curl up", or an exercise like lying hip thrusts. Instead of doing 50-100 crunches in a sitting, try to do just 2-3 proper hanging leg raises. You’ll be surprised to learn that the exercise with the lesser rep is the more intense workout for you!
